Show 006: Stanley Siegel

November 3rd, 2012

Bring intelligence to your sex drive with psychotherapist, Stanley Siegel who has evolved his understanding of the healing power of our sex drive over 35 years of practice.

Learn how to understand your sexual desires as your brain’s effort to heal painful developmental experiences.  Siegel explains how our fantasies connect to our brain’s subconscious efforts to find pleasure in our lingering painful histories.   Our lust is intelligent when regarded in the context of our emotional wounds and life history and treating it with generosity and respect offers real healing.  Don’t miss this conversation that will change everything you think about sexual fantasies and discover the healing passion waiting in your own life.   Truly, deeply inspiring.

You cannot know how much these programs mean to me. I have received the sex education that I needed when I was young. I am from the virgin/whore (slut) time, when women were still morally judged by their sexual expression, as moral or immoral. I just need the truth…. a belief that works humanly for me. I am so grateful for your constant vigilance to those who can assist us to lead more fulfilling love lives. I am eternally grateful!

Dear Dr. Stanley, I’m a medical writer (23 books and much short work). I want to send you a brief article on my transition from lesbian to heterosexual–without guilt or insanity. More like an aha moment when I discovered WHY I had begun as lesbian. I was raised with repressive French-Canadians who believed we’re put on earth to “make up for the sufferings of Jesus, who died for our sins.” My grandmother bore 11 children. At first they frightened me, but rapidly I considered them crazy, especially my parents.
I cherish Woody Allen’s statement: “Love is the answer, but while you’re waiting for it, sex raises some pretty good questions.” Oh, I also became a wife and mother for years.
I enjoy your website and the Web programs I’ve heard. Hello from Carole in Hanover, NH.
